Esmeralda stood silently before her mirror tediously fiddleing with her hair as tiny little strands irriatated her furiously. Esme was the type of woman who usually just threw anything on and was happy with it, but having agreed to go on a date with Gabreille Ivy she had began to ready over an hour ago and still felt terrible. She had tried on almost everything in her wardrobe having fierce arguements with her mirror about what levels an article of clothing was in the scale of 'desperate', 'interested' and 'not interested'. Esme did not want to appear any of them, she didn't even know if she liked this strange man yet alone if she was attracted to him. He confused her terribly which intrigued her all the more to know what was behind his cold masks of perfection.
Having spent hours she had finally settled on a simple pair of dark blue bootcut jenes, a black blouse covered in black silk and lace that wrapped around her front and fell down at the back in a fishtail style. Her long hair had been placed down around her pale face done up with a tiny dab of makeup and colourful lipstick. She felt a utter fool, it wasn't like this was a date, it wasn't like she was a teenager being whisked away by some boy - this was merely a professional meeting of two collegues to get on more familiar terms. She continued to repeat those words as she fiddled frantically with her hair and readjusting her shirt.

Gabrielle, on the other hand, was in a less frustrated state. He wore one of his simpler sets of robes, the vest and slakes a deep green while the over-robe was a dark gray, almost black. His shoes were shined to perfection, the sheen on them brilliant. He checked his watch again before grabbing the small bouquet he'd put together for her in the Greenhouse with the Herbology professor's permission and assistance, of course.
Slowly, he made his way to Esme Echo's rooms, wanting to give her time to do whatever womanly chores she needed to. When he reached the stairway, he almost sludged up them, only quickening the pace when he heard the tolling of the clock tower. His pace was quick naturally, so he reached her rooms in under a minute, his memory and speed helping him tremendously. Three rasps on the door with his callused knuckles, and Gabrielle waited, the bouquet safely tucked behind his back and away from her eyes.

Esme felt her breath leave her deeply at the knock on the door turning silently to face it with worried eyes. She lifed her coat from her bed where she had layed it out and silently made her way towards the front door. It wasn't as if this was a date... she shouldn't be so worried she didn't need to impress anyone. Espacially a deatheater... Severus` words still rang in her mind. A deatheater, a murderer how could she knew all to well that compassion and cruelty could live easily in the same heart and yet it seemed so unreal that a man who yes deeply odd and slightly rude but who had carried a defenseless woman with a sore ankle up flights of stairs when he could being something much more interesting bewildered her.
Finally she came to the door taking one last deep breath before opening it offering a small smile to Gabe on the other side. "Don't you look dashing." She teased gently not knowing how else to greet him as he took in her attire noting that he was dressed for a date.

Gabe merely smiled down at her and produced the bouquet from behind his suit-clad back. "I thought it rude not to bring anything." he said, hoping the gardenia and lily arrangement was what it took to make that twinkle return to her eyes he had first seen when he met her. He was surprised to find himself thinking such things, and even more so to know he had taken in such minute detail. "Soda water keeps them the longest."

Esme to say the least was rather shocked when she was presented with flowers her eyes growing quite wide as she gazed at the beautiful arrangement. They were indeed magnificant. "Their beautiful Gabrielle thank you." She whispered as she turned back to her rooms placeing them for now in a glass of water vowing to change it to soda water later. "Are you interested in herbology?" She questioned to make conversation as she smiled gently up at him obviously rather shacken from her 'it's a simple meeting with a rude arogant man to thank him for being in the right place at the right time' attitude.

He nodded once and shrugged his broad shoulders. "I dabble in it when I have the spare time; not that I'll have much now that I teach here." he said, chuckling softly. The silence that overcame them was one that didn't settle well with Rielle. "Well, shall we? I think you'll like where we're headed." he said, a glint in his eye that would give away so much if one really knew how to read it.

"It's not somewhere posh is it?" She whispered as she gazed over her apperance. Esme came from a very prestegious family but she had always been the odd one out never able to manage at plush parties always looking a tad... out of place. "I fear I will quite embaress you if it is." She whispered gently a blush crossing over her cheeks. She was only a simple woman she couldn't deal with grandures they made her terribly nervous which just added to her clustyness.

A soft chuckle escaped him and he shook his head. "No, nothing terribly fancy." he replied, offering his arm to her as they walked down the stone corridor. "Besides, I doubt anyone would notice another face in the crowd, unless you decided to strip and run round in just your knickers." He let his fingers find hers and squeeze them for a moment before returning his arm to his side, having looped it around her much more slender one.

Esme gave a nervous chuckle at his words smiling gently up at him her cheeks still rosey. "Well I don't have that planned but it would just my luck to trip over and take tables of food with me - I think you've already seen what a clutz I can be." She smiled gently to herself there were times she did wish she could be more elgant and flounce and hold her head high without tripping over her shoelaces. "I'm sure you'd fit in quite well though." She whispered not at all noticeing how insulting her blunt words could have been.

Gabe glanced over at her with a slightly concerned look on his face before a sympathetic smile tugged at his smooth, pink lips. "Oh, I doubt I'll even be noticed; not with the radiant gem on my arm that I have." he muttered softly, winking a brown eye at her. The compliment probably shocked the man who gave it more than the woman it was intended for. "Now, I do have to ask - do you fancy play writes other than Shakespeare?" Much easier to talk art with her than dish out compliments; it was ground he was used to walking with women.

Esme had flushed beat red at his compliment promptly looking down at the floor pondering if this man was playing with her. Esme would never class herself as a beauty and it was obvious this man was quite a womanizer who had seen and slept with much better. She was rather glad for the change in conversation. "I love most theater." She admitted brightly. "Broadway, Shakespere, Oscar Wilde, Arthur Miller." She whispered gently. "I'm rather easy to please."

It was everything he had for Gabrielle not to laugh at her last statement. He hoped she didn't notice how much that one sentence could mean; and secretly, he hoped it wasn't at all true. He liked a challenge. They walked in a comfortable silence, their feet clicking rhythmically on the cold corridor floor. Gabe was careful as they walked down the stairs, watching her feet more than his in case she slipped. He most certainly didn't want her injured again.

Esme continued to walk for several long moments in that comfortable silence allowing him to lead the way somehow trusting him completely regardless of how rude he had been on their first meeting and Severus` warnings. "Are you interested in art Gabrielle?" She questioned breaking the soft silence around them as she glanced up at him to observe his reaction. "Music, literature?" She spoke gently to make conversation with him. he was interesting if nothing else.

The wizard smiled. "Actually, yes I am." he replied honestly. Rielle had always had a strange interest in the arts, and had never really explored it much, except in Hogwarts and the short time before he became a Death Eater. "Never really had the time to truly enjoy much, but it something that perks my curiosity." Oddly, Gabe was glad to have such a different relationship with Esme. He wondered if that ease was an omen to better things, but quickly shrugged the thought off; he was being absurd.

"Perhaps now your at Hogwarts you will have more time to persue it." She smiled up at him one of her true bright beams that only those she felt at ease with were given. perhaps she could become friends with Gabrielle Ivy, but friends was all she was not ready to open her heart again espacially to a man whos history screamed out that she would be hurt, she couldn't deal with another heartbreak. "Come on where are you taking me I can't stand the suspense any more." She laughed gently coming to stand infront of him so he could walk no further.
