"You're more than welcome, Esme." he mumbled just loud enough for them to hear. "I should be thanking you, really. Gave me a terrific reason to get out, and a wonderful opportunity to know a fabulous women without risking a slap across the face."
Gabe was surprised their walk seemed to fly by, because, before he knew it, he was opening the the castle doors and gently escorting his date in. "It really has been a terrific evening, hasn't it?" he said suddenly as they neared the staircase.

Esme smiled at him gently glad he to had enjoyed the evening but also noticeing how distant his conversation was as if he were pondering something else. "It was lovely Gabrielle thank you." She kept her arm looped with his as the came to the stairs that led up to the portrait hiding her room from the students. "I look forward to Saturday." She smiled part of her regreting having agreed now he had determined this had infact been a date she didn't wish to lead him on.

**just to add to our inside jokes lol**
Gabe's mind was still reeling for a way to get beyond the portrait of Marcus and he nodded, her words pulling him from his thoughts, as she had the astounding capability of doing so easily. "As do I." he replied softly. "Perhaps we can try something foreign for dinner afterward. Maybe Greek. I know of a fabulous restaurant." He glanced at the stairs and was suddenly hit with a thought - the trick step. Hopefully, Esme hadn't quite noticed how very post he was. Rielle resisted the urge to grin as he turned and rattled off a tid-bit about the restaurant in question, purposefully stepping incorrectly on the step the castle used for her fun. Instantly, it was tilted and he slipped, just as planned, his right hand catching the force of the fall. His lips let out a laugh and he shook it off as he stood, the bones in his hand practically creaking as he wiggled his fingers, adding a hiss and a wince for good measure. "Oh, that's going to be nice and bruised in the morning." he mumbled, knowing she would catch his words.

For the first few moments Esme fell terribly for his trick her hand coming to take his examining closely before quickly inviting him into her rooms for ice. It was only when she left him upon the sofa and headed to the small kitchen to fetch ice from the freezer it began to dawn on her. Gabrielle was not a clumsy man and he was more then aware of that trickstep there having already helped her up from tripping on it he had missed it when coming down to grab her he knew full well it was there. It then occured to her Snape's warning that he was a womanizer and how she had heard the female population of staff gossiping about his 'conquests' and she had just fallen for the oldest trick in the book.
She stood for along moment in the kitchen holding the back of ice. No she was certainly not about to become another notch on some mans bedpost who thought he could woo any woman after a simple date and tripping over. Bringing up her hand she released her hair always feeling more confident when it was down - more herself and headed back into the living room sitting herself beside him playing along for the moment as she applied ice to the hand. "You might have to ask Poppy for some solvents tomorrow."

Gabrielle nodded, wincing slightly as she applied the ice to his hand. It did hurt a bit, in all reality. Catching oneself on stone steps without injury would be an incredible feat; one dear Gabe Ivy was not capable of, even when trying to bed a woman. "You know," he began, the cogs in his brain turning with ease. His cake was already in his lap, and now he was going to eat it. "A kiss would certainly make this feel better." His signature grin shone almost unnaturally as his white teeth seemed to brighten in the dim light of Esme's rooms.

Esme almost had to restrain herself from slapping him then and there he truly thought he could bewitch her into bed with a charming smile and coy words. Did women truly fall for this. Leaning forward she placed a peck to his cheek coyly. "Thank you for the lovely evening, you should go to bed sleep always helps distract you from the pain." She spoke being polite so far he had given her a lovely evening after all but she wasn't about to repay him by sleeping with him.

Oh was this really going to be easier than he thought? Gabrielle grinned over at her pale face, his gaze locking with hers. "Oh, I can think of something better than sleep to distract me." he whispered, that glint in his eye that was more readable than a book. "But ... Well, it takes two to mamba, vertical or horizontal."

Esme couldn't with hold it any longer a loud 'urgh' of absolute disgust leaveing her lips as she rose to her feet. "I can't believe you!" She yelled at him her hands on her hips as she glared down at him. "We have a lovely evening and then you go and do this, this was just a whole ploy to get me into bed with you wasn't it! And that corny tripping down the stairs do you really think i'm stupid enough not to notice that you only did that to get into my rooms?" She demanded as she starred at him absolutely outraged her cheeks flushed bright red.

Eye wide and mouth agape, Gabrielle's first thought flew straight from his lips. "Wow..." he whispered, utterly stunned at her response. She'd actually figured him out. Perhaps that was what perplexed him about her. She could read him like an open, large print book. Shaking the thought from his mind, he stood with his hands held in a retreating manner. "I ... Well ... You know, your right!" he said, unable to control what he was saying. "And I apologize the fullest of my ability, which probably isn't that good at all. But I ... I'm just ... " He huffed out a long breath before taking a large one in and exhaling it. "I think it might be best if I leave." he muttered, slightly cradling his hand to his chest.

"I think you should to." Esme agreed fully glareing at him as he almost jumped to his feet obviously never having been figured out by a woman before. "Honestly it's disgusting how you treat women, it's just as bad as paying for sex and at least thats done honestly you go behind womens backs pay for all these expensive things to woo them so they feel obligued to have sex with you and fall for your charm!" She gave him two pieces of her mind as she ripped her door open holding it back glareing at him so he could leave.

He stepped out, completely silent as she ranted and raved, taking in every word she said. As crazy as it sounded, and he definitely knew crazy, he couldn't get enough of her, even in her furious and angriest moments. He turned after he had passed the threshold and thought for a moment. "So ... I'm guessing no Othello Saturday then?" he asked, wanting to slap himself. Had he really just done that?

Esme gave another shocked sound of upmost disgust not even answering as she slammed the door on him. How did she do this to herself? Everytime she had thought she had met someone who could even be a friend they turned out to be absolute jerks. She had been warned of Gabrielle and yes she had been so wary but she had actually been starting to like him during their meal not anything more then like but he had been becomeing very interesting and this was what it led to. Damn that man!
