The office of Esmeralda Echo was a darkly colored room organized in what she liked to call 'constructive chaos' though others would plainly say Esme's office was a tad messy. Large ceiling high bookcases stood proudly against the back wall hosting all manner of books.
The other walls were covered in charts, odd little jars and personal paintings and photographs. Across in the corner sat a large wizarding musical player allowing a song of Esmeralda's choice to drift through the room breaking the silence. The woman in question sat at her desk which was placed in the exact center of the room her right hand twisting her index finger commanding the spoon in her cup of tea to turn while she lightly stared at a selection of lesson plans before her.
Sighing Esme collected the plans together before placing them back in their draw obviously in no mood to try and grasp what had been thaught to the students and what hadn't. It felt so eerie to sit in a office as a teacher when just years before she would have been sent to such offices hanging her head in shame after placing a dung bomb or pulling another such prank.

Gabrielle Ivy was quite content with his job, so, knowing that he would most likely be in his position for quite some while, he decided to go around an introduce himself to the rest of the professors that were scattered about the campus. He'd already been acquainted with Severus Snape, so he thought it best to simply avoid the sour man entirely. After all, he wasn't in the mood to have his happy-medium ruined.
The wizard followed the map he'd made in his mind many years before up to the Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom with ease, his hands clasped behind his back and his eyes closed. never did he miss a step on the stairs, never did he stumble into a wall. He'd been through these corridors too much over the years to even begin to forget where everything was. Besides, he needed to be as inconspicuous as possible.
Gabe found the doorknob to the classroom he was looking for, and his eyes snapped open. No matter how well he knew the hallways, each teacher had their own way of arraning the desks in their classroom, and he wasn't about to trip over some hunk of wood. Easily meandering between the large wooden work areas, the wizard was at the office door in a matter of seconds. He took a deep breath and placed his signature smile on his face before opening the door and walking through, completely unannonced. His gaze landed on an empty chair at the front of the professor's desk, and his feet hastily carried him to it. With a sigh, he settled down in the seat and smiled at the woman before him before crossing his legs and making himself comfortable. "Hello."

To say the least Esme was a tad surprised when she glanced up from her tea to find a man sitting infront of her, shocked but none the less thrilled to see someone else was taking the time to introduce themselves as she was even in these... terrible conditions. "Hello." She smiled her own bright smile at the man not nearly as dazzleing as his but a kindly happy smile. "Esmeralda Echo, I've just picked up the DADA possition." She greeted holding her hand over the desk for him to shake should he wish seemingly not at all phased any longer at suddenly finding a stranger in her office.

Gabe merely nodded, his gaze raking around her office, trying to find the slightest bit of organization. He failed. "So!" he said, suddenly turning his rather blank face back toward her own. "Oh, right. Names." He chuckled and flashed her his sly grin. "Gabrielle Ivy." he said, his name rolling off of his lips as it was probably not originally intended to sound. "New Charms professor." He made no gesture to extend his hand or offer any more information, but he did quite rudely pick her cup of tea up to take a long sip. "Mmm ... Nice. Better than I usually take it." he murmured, mostly to himself than to the other being in the room.

Esme was rather taken aback as she starred silently at the man before her as he sipped her tea. She remained quite silently for several moments before her smile soon flittered back to her face Esme was ever the optimist refuseing to believe this man before her was actually rude perhaps just eccentric. "Well it's a pleasure to meet you Professor Ivy, is there anything I can help you with? A cup of tea perhaps?" She questioned with a soft smile as she returned her hand to place it under her chin watching him thoughtfully.

"No, I'm quite fine." he replied, his gaze empty, as if he were thinking of something else entirely. His chin cam to rest on his laced fingers, and they sat in silence for almost a full minute. "It's quite boring in here, don't you think?" Gabrielle glanced around the room before standing and moving to her window. He did not ask if she minded smokers before he pulled a white paper tube packed tightly with tobacco and lit it, taking a long drag off the cancer stick before exhaling the toxic cloud with a sigh against the chilled window pane. "So much to do and so little time." he muttered, as if he were suddenly alone and not in someone else's office.
The wizard's mind was hardly able to stand still, much to his disapproval. He hadn't the slightest idea what could make him so .. energetic, so fidgety, for he was usually very calm and able to sit still for hours on end, but now, in Esmeralda's presence especially, he ... simply wasn't comfortable in his own skin; like all the bad deeds he'd done as a Death Eater were suddenly itching at the surface in the naive woman's presence. "Excuse me." he muttered, quickly darting from the room to the hallway where he all but ran to his quarters to think. What on Earth was wrong with him?
He stayed in his rooms for nearly an hour before a totally different person emerged. Cool, collected, calm, Rielle walked back to Esme's office and entered as he had before, seating himself without asking. "Good evening." he said, as if he'd never met the woman before in his life.
It was all Bade could do not to pounce out of his chair and run ramped again, but he simply clasped his hands in his lap tightly, his crossed legs squeezing a little more so than one usually would, his fingers digging into his own skin. "Lovely office."

*chin hits floor - you are a genius! You've given her the broken man she'll instantly want to mend - genius.*
Esme to say the least was absolutely bewildered when the strange man fled from her office only to return an hour later when she stood at the back of her office flicking through a book. She watched him her mouth agape for several minutes before ehr jaw suddenly clenched obviously thinking this man was playing games with her. She was sick and tired of men thinking they could play her like a violin. She crossed back to her desk slamming the book in her hands heavily down on the surface. "I don't know what your playing at," She hissed in her best teacher lectureing voice Esme wasn't a woman who lost her cool so it was rather hard for her to be this stern and that was painfully obvious in her eyes and the small shake to her tone. "But it's not funny, your supposed to be a professor these are the kind of games our students play!" She snapped her hands resting on the table as she starred at him intensely so anting to just turn away and look at the floor. He had powerful eyes. "I won't stand for it and if you continue to be rude to me and harrass me I will... I will file an offical complaint to the headmaster!" She thought of the very best threat she could in the limited time.

**awww -blushes- thanks. and it's headmistress, hunno. ... well i think it is. -goes to check-*
"Ooo ... Scary." he said, feigning quivers of fear. "However," Gabrielle stood, that snarkly smile still tugging at his lips. "I will leave you to your own thoughts, as I'd rather not be the one who makes the Defense Against the Dark Arts professor start emitting sparks. Wouldn't look very good on my record, would it?" He drew his lips back to show his teeth, the pearly whites sparkling almost unnaturally as he grinned before he turned and made his way to the door. "Oh." he muttered, turning to face her again. "I will be in my office when you're ready to chat." Again with the grin. "I'm sure we'll be the best of friends!" His shoulders shrugged more like a puff's than a ladies' man's, and he practically flounced from the room, the door closing softly in his wake.

*headmaster - Snapples.*
Esme starred after him in absolute dismay quite certain she had just been confronted with an absolute loonatic. It was many, many hours later when Esme made her way back from the meal in the great hall heading for her private rooms she would finally come near the charms classroom. She had been thinking about the peculiar man and wondered if she had perhaps been a tad rude he was probably just a tad eccentric and there was nothing wrong with that she knew.
With a loud sigh she found herself outside his office door not really knowing why she was here. She was far to nice for her own good and she knew people took advantage of her and ehr desperately longing to help - her husband had thinking if she ever found out she would give her forgiveness to him that she usually did to everyone else. She raised her knuckles to knock quietly on the oak even though he had not given her the curtosy delicately pushing the door open and sliding and into his office.

**right .. i knew that. i was just testing you >.> ** Gabe didn't look up from his book as he called, "Come in!" With a reluctant sigh, he quickly marked his place by dog-earring the page, and set the leather-bound book aside, his reading glasses still perched on his rigged nose; there was sufficient evidence that it had been broken before. It lay slightly crooked, only enough for the most observant person to notice, and a four small, round scars lay at the tip of it where he had been punched by a married woman he had been trying to bring to bed. He now knew to check for rings before lurching into a sleazy pick-up line.

Esme slipped into the room closeing the door behind her before making her way to stand before him hands resting gently on the edge of his desk as she felt slightly guilty for her brash actions earlier. "I wanted to apologise," She spoke gently not making eye contact with the man before her as she looked down at his desk cheeks slightly red. "I was very rude earlier." She apologised her hands coming to grasp together nervously.

He chuckled. She was apologizing! Gabe simply smiled up at her. "No, you weren't." he whispered, rather shocked at what had come from his lips. "You were just being human. Can't be helped really." He gestured she take a seat; Gabrielle Ivy's office was almost completely opposite of Esme's. He liked neat, tidy areas, and was bored by anything chaotic. It just showed off people's flaws. However, he could study The Thinker for hours and still be perplexed by its, to put it simply, perfection. His chairs were of the highest quality, but then again, he would not stand for anything but. He was, for lack of a better term, spoiled. Gabe had always had a large supply of money, and he wasn't afraid to spend it; it showed, as his robes were incredibly crisp, his shoes always squeaking with that 'new shoe' sound, his furniture was all hand-made in Italy, and his desk was of the finest mahogany. "May I get you anything?" he asked suddenly. "Wine? Brandy?"

"A glass of wine would be very nice thank you." She whispered as she gently perched herself in the offered chair once again feeling she was talking to someone utterly different. She gazed around the immaculate office thoughtfully feeling very out of place with the many strands of hair falling out her pony tail around her face, her robes slightly creased she wasn't at all imaculately in her apperance some would even say her apperance was slightly chaotic. "It's a beautiful office." She commented obviously struggleing to make conversation.

"Thank you." he stated simply, moving elegantly over to his liquor cabinet where he retrieved the requested drink and proper flutes. Gabrielle was more than astounded by his mood, possibly even more so than Esmeralda. Never had he been so incredibly kind to a woman before and now ... It was as if he was honestly interested in getting to know the woman, when, normally, all he was after was a long night in bed and no bill in the morning. His pale right hand gently grasped his wine glass, while his left held Esme's. "Here you are." he breathed, handing her the crystal flute carefully. "I apologize if it's not up to scratch. Most of my wines taste better after breathing for a bit." Gracefully, he sat back down in his squishy, over-stuffed chair and sighed, taking a sip of the ten year Chardinai. "Tell me something about yourself."

Esme took a gentle sip of the wine finding it delicious never having really tasted such fineries. She watched him carefully finding it very odd that he was now sitting talking to her like a civilised human being after the displays before. "Well..." She whispered taking another small sip of her wine. "I worked at the ministry, I attended the university of Merlin... theres not much to tell about me." She spoke gently as she observed him. "Where as you... you seem rather interesting." She spoke gently ever the blunt.
