Destrane made his way down the narrow alley, his shoulders hunched, hands in the folds of his robes. It was cold and he watched as his breath turned to vapor before him. He sighed. It had been a boring weekend and with school starting in two weeks, after the break, he had a long ways to go. It was apparent that this would be a dull vacation.
The boy paused slightly when he heard someone running after him.

“Des!” Helena called out to him as she ran for him, her heels loudly clacking on the cobble stones of the road. Her velvet black robes bellowed out behind her as she held up her long skirts.
“Wait up! Please..” She finally caught up with him, nearly crashing against the body she so loved. Her eyes wide, looking a little unnerved.

His eyes widened as he recognized his lover's voice. he spun sharply, arms coming around her as the girl nearly crashed into him. Destrane pressed his lips to her forehead, lips turned down in concern. Immediately he looked into her eyes, surprised by her expression.
"Cricket? What's wrong, love?" he asked urgently, his expression full of worry. This didn't look good and he didn't even know what happened yet.

Helena pressed against him as he held her trying to catch her breath after seeing what she saw. Pressing her forehead to his, she wrapped her arms around him, turning her head toward the way she had came from.
Pointing that way she turned to him and spoke brokenly, “Inner circle death eater … murdered. Suspicious.” Sure the girl was around death all the time, but the death of a D.E. always unnerved her, although this one caught her suspicion.

A low growl emitted from his throat at the news. This was not good. Ever since his father took over, deaths in the ranks were only to those failing a mission, and an inner circle death eater wouldn't be killed easily. He kissed her forehead and hugged her.
"Show me," he demanded, taking on his role as the Dark Lord's heir. There was no compassion in his gaze, no emotion whatsoever. This was business now and he would comfort his lover later, after resolving the issue.

She took him by the hand and led him back to the little side alley where she saw what happened the magical residue lingered in the air like something foul. Laying in a crumbled mass was the body of the Death Eater, a pool of blood around him.
“There,” she said with a gulp backing away from the crumbled body so her dark love could inspect the body.

Destrane followed her and caressed her hand when they arrived at the scene. He nodded and then walked over to the body, kneeling beside it. Withdrawing his wand, and muttering a few spells, he entrapped the image within himself to show the Dark Lord later. The spell hurt but he made no motion or reaction to the pain.
Suddenly he stood and spun towards her. "Come here," though his voice was dark and commanding, there was unease lying beneath it. Whoever did this was still around. He held his wand in front of him, ready to defend them against the rebel.

He didn’t have to tell her twice before she flew back by his side, her hand clenched around her wand inside of her pocket. Her frighten eyes searched the alley for the hiding place of the culprit. A curse zoomed past them and she screeched when moving out of the way.

His arm flew around her waist, pulling her body close to him as he flicked his wand, lighting up the shadows. The sight that greeted them made him hiss in disbelief. One of the higher ranked Aurors, supposed to be dead, stood before them, tattered robes hanging from his body. A string of insults came from his lips as he moved to shield his love's body.
"You are a fool, sticking around," he hissed at the rebel. The older wizard grinned insanely and sent the killing curse at them. Destrane pushed Cricket to the ground, getting them both out of the way.

“The hell?” She muttered to herself as she moved for cover her nose curled up at the crackling sound of the auror’s insane laughter. “Fucking Aurors!” the spell contacted wall above them blasting off some of the stone. She pulled down on his cloak so Destrane wouldn’t be hit by the falling stone. “How the hell is he still alive?!”

"Someone didn't do their job," he replied darkly, nodding to her. Suddenly he stood and spat a curse, watching as the man fell to his knees, screaming in agony.
"Fool," he snarled, under his breath. As his curse ended, the Auror tried to enter his mind. Hah! Des put up his mental blocks, grinning as his father's lessons apparently paid off. "Cricket, use the Imperious curse on him," he murmured to her, sliding his hand along the back of her neck possessively.

Helena smiled wicked and darkly at her beloved before stepping a bit closer to the fallen Auror. Flicking her wand elegantly she softly said “Imperio”
The spell worked expertly on the auror’s mind giving them control over the pathetic little creature before them. “What shall we do to him, beloved?”

Destrane hummed, thinking. He glanced around their surroundings and smirked. "Have him injur himself without reaching the point of death while I grab some veritaserum." The boy straightened, walking around the Auror calmly. His eyes were hard to read, his lips pulled into a straight line. After a few moments, he muttered something under his breath and a glass of the potion he wanted appeared in his hand.

Helena whispered her command to the Auror watching with glee as the man turned his wand on himself and muttered a curse. The man’s screams rang throughout the alleyway as he collapsed on the ground again his chest heaving with every breath he took in.
Her cold eyes shot over to Destrane as she looked at him lovingly and proudly as he made the serum appear.

Destrane nodded to her quietly before sliding the potion passed the man's lips. He then watched as the Auror's eyes glazed over further. The boy walked over to Helena and slid his arms around her waist, thinking.
"How did you live?" he asked after a moment, thinking.
"I made the Death Eater forget that he was to kill me," came the dead answer. Destrane chuckled.
